Remember You Are Earth

Seeing What Is, Not What Could Be

Slow down.

Just for a moment.

Put your phone down.

Step outside.

Feel your feet on the grass.

Listen to the wind moving through the trees.

Listen to the birds.

Feel the warmth of the sun upon your skin.

Take a breath.

And imagine this.

Imagine you have just awakened from an eternal slumber.

You do not know your name.

You do not know your story.

You do not know your job, your responsibilities, your achievements, your struggles, or even the people you love.

Everything is new.

Everything is being experienced for the very first time.

You hear birdsong.

For the first time.

You feel the breeze dance across your skin.

For the first time.

You watch the sunlight filter through the leaves.

For the first time.

You taste the air.

You smell the earth after rain.

You feel life moving all around you.

And suddenly, simply being alive feels extraordinary.

Somewhere along the way, we stopped noticing.

We became distracted.

Busy.

Consumed by schedules, plans, worries, and responsibilities.

We forgot how miraculous it is to be here at all.

To breathe.

To feel.

To witness.

To belong.

Perhaps for just a few moments each day, we can remember.

Not by escaping life.

But by fully arriving in it.

By becoming present enough to notice what has always been here.

The wind.

The birds.

The trees.

The sky.

The earth beneath our feet.

Because you are not separate from nature.

You are not simply living upon the Earth.

You are Earth.

Your bones are made from the minerals of the land.

Your blood carries the waters of this planet.

The air moves through your lungs as it moves through the forests.

The same elements that shape mountains shape you.

You are not apart from life.

You are life.

You are not apart from nature.

You are nature.

You are not apart from the Earth.

You are Earth.

So today, slow down.

Step outside.

Take off your shoes.

Feel the grass beneath your feet.

Listen to the wind.

And for just a moment, remember what it feels like to be alive.

Not rushing.

Not striving.

Not becoming.

Simply being.

And perhaps in that moment, you will remember that you have never been separate at all.

You are one.
